The central educational guidance committee at the college was formed by experienced counseling professors representing the scientific departments. They prepare data through the academic advisors about each student in various aspects and monitor them to create a suitable environment for counseling in two forms in a computer-designed database using a statistical form prepared for this purpose, as well as paper archives and reports with auditing to diagnose the student’s condition and help them solve their health, psychological, social, and economic problems and everything that obstructs their studies. The committee works on connecting the student to the counseling process and guiding them to participate in non-curricular activities that enhance their behavior and encourage them to learn and practice their role as university students. The committee also uses unconventional methods in the counseling process and instills trust in students in the teaching staff in dealing with them and presenting their problems, searching for solutions to them. Furthermore, this committee provides information to students and professors and encourages them to conduct educational and psychological research to diagnose negative situations and present them to officials to find solutions.<\/p>\n

  1. Develop an annual counseling plan that extends throughout the academic year that meets the needs of students in this area.<\/li>\n
  2. Work on implementing the counseling plan and evaluating it annually.<\/li>\n
  3. Conduct individual and group counseling sessions for students with the aim of providing assistance and solving problems that they face.<\/li>\n
  4. Conduct group guidance in classes to discuss issues that concern students, society, or the college.<\/li>\n
  5. Conduct vocational and educational guidance.<\/li>\n
  6. Hold workshops and seminars with preventive, therapeutic, or developmental goals through coordination with the central committee.<\/li>\n
  7. Prepare counseling brochures on psychological, educational, and behavioral topics.<\/li>\n
  8. Discuss some negative phenomena prevalent among students and address them.<\/li>\n
  9. Benefit from non-curricular activities as preventive and therapeutic methods for cases that the counselor deals with.<\/li>\n
  10. Hold counseling seminars for college professors on the importance of counseling and guidance and how to deal with students in an educational manner.<\/li>\n
  11. Provide follow-up services to students who have received counseling services to assess their progress and the effectiveness of the counseling process.<\/li>\n
  12. Conduct surveys and studies to identify the psychological and educational problems that students suffer from.<\/li>\n
  13. Provide advice to the members of the discipline committee regarding the circumstances and situation of the student referred to this committee, without the counselor attending committee meetings or participating in decision-making for punishment.<\/li>\n
  14. Refer cases that exceed the counselor’s abilities and expertise to the relevant authorities.<\/li>\n
  15. Guide newly accepted students to understand the nature of university life and its requirements.<\/li>\n
  16. Maintain confidentiality of information.<\/li>\n
  17. Build friendly relationships with students to increase trust.<\/li>\n
  18. Work on specifying problems and finding appropriate solutions for them, such as:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      \n
    • Psychological problems: related to cases of introversion, shyness, low self-confidence, etc.<\/li>\n
    • Educational problems: related to low academic performance, memorization and rules, absenteeism and its reasons, the uniform and its impact on the student’s personality, etc.<\/li>\n
    • Behavioral problems: related to assaulting other students, theft, cheating in exams, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
