The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Baghdad discussed , a master’s thesis in field of Industrial Management by the student (Muhammad Hardan Sultan ) and tagged with (Quality Engineering for Supply Chain Operations in Silo Khan Dhari) , Under supervision of ( Pro. Batool Attia Khalaf)
Quality engineering and its requirements are among the most important factors that contribute to improving the quality of products and reducing costs for all organizations, especially in light of the dynamic conditions prevailing at the present time, and with the aim of clarifying the philosophy of quality engineering of supply chains in an attempt to find solutions to the prevailing problem in most of the silos of the General Company for Grain Trade , Especially in the silo of Khan Dhari Ala, which is the absence of a unified database for the silos of the company, as well as there is no automation to fully link the storage size of the wheat crop, and there is no keeping up with modern technologies in managing supply chains in the silos of the General Company for Grain Trade, especially the silo of Khan Dhari, the research sample that It is of great importance as it was established in order to maintain the strategic storage of the wheat crop.
This study mainly aims to search for mechanisms to improve the operations of the supply chains in the silo of Khan Dhari, where the case study approach was relied upon as an approach that helps in a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of the problem of the study, and check lists were relied upon in the data collection process. There were “11” lists that included the main axes for each of the quality engineering and supply chains, as well as the “Pareto” chart and the “Fish Bone” chart for analyzing that data.
In the statistical aspect, reliance was made on the seven-fold scale, in addition to the equations for the weighted arithmetic mean, the extent of conformity, and the size of the gap.
Where this study focuses on the importance of quality engineering in its content, a systematic and technical development of the methods adopted in controlling, ensuring and improving quality because of its importance in designing the proposed model for supply chain operations, through which the time for the processing and storage of wheat is reduced and the redundant activities that do not give value are removed.
In its practical part, the study reached several conclusions, the most important of which are: the presence of a significant weakness in keeping pace with modern technological developments by the General Company for Grain Trade in general and the Khan Dhari silo in particular, especially with regard to the mechanism of work of managing supply chains for the operations of receiving the wheat crop, and the lack of a unified database In order to link the silos of the General Company for Grain Trade with the company, showing the size of the strategic storage at any time without referring to addressing the branches and silos to know the quantities of their stocks, in addition to the existence of a weakness in knowing the concept of quality engineering and its requirements.
The study also recommended the adoption of modern technologies to facilitate the processes of receiving the wheat crop, and linking all branches and silos of the General Company for Grain Trade with automated applications that show the storage volume of the wheat crop at any moment.
