This research aims to examine the reality of government financial capacity and financial pressures in Iraq during the period (2006-2022). The research assumes that increasing the government’s fiscal capacity of both self-depth, tax depth and fiscal depth affects unilaterally and positively its ability to withstand financial and economic pressures, most notably tax pressure, inflation pressure, foreign currency exchange pressure and debt pressure in Iraq. The research concluded that the financial capacity of the Iraqi Government depends solely on oil revenues to finance its financial obligations, especially current ones, which put a financial strain on the Iraqi general budget, reflected in the Government’s high financial burden and the existence of economic instability in Iraq, such as inflation pressure, exchange pressure, foreign currency and external debt pressure during the period of the research. One of the most important recommendations is to reduce reliance on oil revenues through the Government’s pursuit of policies aimed at diversifying the sources of financing of the financial capacity of the Iraqi Government and raising its financial burden.
