About the department
The Department of Business Administration has a long history, dating back to the establishment of the College of Commerce and Economics in 1946-1947. Originally, the college provided general education in the field only. However, in 1955-1956, the Department of Commercial Sciences was formed, which consisted of both the Accounting and Banking branch as well as Insurance. The following academic year department split into two sections, one of which was the Department of Commercial Sciences. Nevertheless, in 1957-1958, the section was eliminated, returning the study to its pre-1955 state. In 1963, the College of Commerce was created as an independent entity, and for four years, the college provided a general education across three departments, including the Department of Business Administration. In 1968, when the College of Administration and Economics was established in its current form, it began in 1969, when the study for the field was of five years, and then of four years since 1975. The Department of Business Administration was one of its most prominent departments, and it consisted of two branches:
- Business Administration branch: It includes business administration and accounting majors
- General Administration Branch
Subsequently, in 1974, the Accounting Branch was established, and then in 1976, the Commercial Teachers Training Branch. Thus, the Business Administration Department became composed of four branches. In the academic year 1982-1983, the branch of Public Administration and Business Administration were merged into one branch called Administration, and then the department became composed of three divisions instead of four, namely: the Administration, Accounting, and trade teaching branch.
In the year 1987-1988, the above branches became independent scientific departments, and the Business Administration Department still stands today.
