An administrative unit whose work is linked to the Dean and the work of the Scientific Promotions Committee. It undertakes the tasks of scientific promotions for teachers by receiving and checking the scientific promotion transaction and holding periodic meetings to discuss the progress of scientific promotions transactions, then submitting them to the College Council for approval and sending them to the Central Promotion Committee in the presidency of the university.

This procedure aims to introduce the steps that are taken when distributing and performing the work of the Academic Promotions Committee.

This procedure applies to the process of distributing and performing the work of the Academic Promotions Committee within the Academic Promotions Unit and during the academic year.

  • The College Council selects the head of the Scientific Promotions Committee from the staff with the rank of professor or assistant professor if there is no one with the rank of professor.
  • The College Council selects the members of the Promotion Committee from among the college members from different specializations with the rank of professor or assistant professor in the absence of someone with the rank of professor in a particular specialization.
  • The committee selects a rapporteur from its members.
  • The Scientific Promotion Committee shall have employees who have a Bachelor’s degree.
  • The term of membership in the committee is three years, non-renewable.
  • The academic promotion transaction is referred to the Academic Promotions Committee by the Dean’s Office after submitting it to the Academic Department.
  • The transaction is completed by the Academic Promotions Unit in accordance with the Academic Promotions Instructions, then it is checked by the Promotions Committee and approved for submission to the College Council.
  • The owner of scientific promotion is notified by an official letter addressed to the academic department to which the owner is affiliated, in case there is any deficiency in the promotion treatment.
  • Hold periodic meetings to discuss transactions submitted by faculty members and submit them to the Dean for approval, Internal and external experts are selected and scientific promotion research is sent to them via express mail and e-mail.
  • After completing all the requirements of the promotion transaction, a promotion summary form is prepared for each professor and signed by the department head, the head of the scientific promotions committee, and the Dean, and then submitted to the college council for approval, and then the promotion transaction is sent to the presidency of the University of Baghdad / Central Promotions.
  • Circulars to departments and administrative units regarding all updates and instructions for academic promotions.
