Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Sabah Manfi Reda, Dean of the College, the Continuing Education Unit, in cooperation with the Municipal Awareness Department in the Baghdad Municipality, organized an awareness symposium to introduce the activities of Baghdad Municipality as part of the “We Plant Together” campaign in order to confront climate change.

The campaign included a review of the activities of the Baghdad Municipality and its activities in planting areas of the capital. During the symposium, an awareness film was shown and leaflets were distributed to inform the audience of the nature of the Baghdad Municipality’s activities. The symposium paragraphs were presented by Mr. Salam Nasser Hussein, Director of Media of the Department of Designs, Mr. Nour Sabah Mahmoud, Director of Follow-up, and Mr. Diyaa Saddam. Khanjar, Director of Civil Society, and Ms. Shorouk Abdel Hassan, Director of Municipal Awareness Media in the Adhamiya Municipality Department

At the end of the campaign, college professors, employees, and students participated in planting seedlings and flowers to encourage volunteer work among students, by contributing to planting trees, as well as providing a healthy and appropriate environmental atmosphere, reducing pollution and expanding green spaces in it.

The government had previously launched a major initiative to plant 5 million trees and palm trees across all governorates, during the Iraq Climate Conference, which Basra hosted with international and regional participation. The College of Business and Economics initiated a number of extensive volunteer campaigns on National Afforestation Day in order to achieve the goals of the sustainable environment in providing an ideal university environment.
