The Establishment of The College

_

The history of the establishment of the college dates back to 1936 when the Institute of Financial Sciences was established, which was attached to the Faculty of Law and the duration of the study was two years, and due to the circumstances of World War II, the Institute was canceled in 1940.

In 1946-1947 was founded (College of Administration and Economics), which was called the Faculty of Commerce and Economics, where this date was considered the date of its official establishment, and received its students in the same year and graduated the first session in 1949-1950 and the study in the college was general without specialization, and by the academic year 1955-1956 the study branched out in the college and as follows:

  1. Department of Commercial Sciences includes:
  2. Accounting Branch.
  3. Banking and Insurance Branch.
  4. Department of Economic Sciences includes:
  5. Department of General Economics.
  6. Department of Agricultural and Industrial Economics (abolished in the same year).

When the year 1956-1957 arrived, the specialization in the college was determined in two departments only:

  1. Department of Commercial Sciences.
  2. Department of Economics.

One year later, the academic year 1957-1958, the specialization was completely abolished, so that the general study returned to what it was before 1955.

In 1963, the college split into two independent colleges:

  1. Faculty of Commerce : It was merged (Higher Accounting Institute), which was founded in 1959, where it was attached to the Ministry of Education, and the study in the college became public for a period of four years, and includes three departments, namely the Department of Business Administration, Accounting and Commercial Law, and these sections share with each other that they grant the graduate of the college a certificate (Bachelor of Commerce ).
  2. Faculty of Economics and Political Science: This college consisted of the Department of Economics, which was one of the departments of the former Faculty of Commerce and Economics, in addition to the Department of Economics and the Department of Political Science affiliated to the Faculty of Arts. Thus, the college now includes three departments: the Department of Economics, Political Science and Applied Statistics.

It is worth mentioning that the academic year 1955-1956 witnessed the establishment of the Department of Business Administration at La Sagesse University, which was transformed into the College of Business Administration in 1962-1963.

With regard to public administration, the Institute of Public Administration was established in 1958, where the study was for two years, then became three years and then four years, where the first session graduated in 1963 and then turned into the Faculty of Public Administration in 1967.

Until 1968, which witnessed a radical transformation towards the establishment of the College of Administration and Economics in its current form, when the College of Commerce, the College of Economics and Political Science, the College of Business Administration and the College of Public Administration were merged into one college called the College of Administration and Economics.

The study at the College of Administration and Economics in 1969 was five years, the first year of which was general, then the specialization by departments in the second year and the study has become four years since 1975, but the specialization begins from the first year.

At that time, the college included the following scientific departments:

Department of Administration: Since its establishment, it has consisted of two branches:

  1. Business Administration branch, which includes business administration and accounting majors.
  2. The Public Administration Branch.

Then the Accounting Branch was established in 1974 and the Commercial Teacher Preparation Branch in 1976, thus the Department of Management consisted of four branches.

In the academic year 1982-1983, the branches of public administration and business administration were merged into one branch, the administration branch, and the department included three branches instead of four: the management branch, the accounting branch and the commercial teacher preparation branch.

In 1987-1988, the above branches became independent scientific departments until admission to the Department of Commercial Teachers was stopped in 1998 and a new department was created in the name of Industrial Management, and thus the college now includes the following scientific departments:

  1. Department of Economics.
  2. Department of Business Administration.
  3. Department of Statistics.
  4. Accounting Department.
  5. Department of Public Administration.
  6. Department of Industrial Management.
  7. The Department of Financial and Banking Sciences was established in 2013 in the name of (Finance and Banking ).
