The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, honored the public universities that achieved the three advanced positions in the results of the Iraqi classification of universities, as the University of Baghdad ranked first at the level of public universities, in the presence of Professor Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Ansaf, President of the University of Baghdad.
The Minister of Education expressed his confidence that Iraqi universities will continue their rising path in the field of scientific publishing and compete in classifications that enhance the academic reputation of institutions and provide them with a positive presence on international platforms.
It is worth noting that the Iraqi classification of universities, in its special edition for the year 2023, included an evaluation of ninety-five governmental and private institutions according to the standards of institutional accreditation 20%, international classifications 10%, effectiveness of scientific research 30%, community service 5%, digital maturity 2%, faculty members 10%, and awards 5%. Students 5%, infrastructure 5%, diversity and international cooperation 5%, and occupational health and safety 3%.
The classification conducted by the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority showed the University of Baghdad ranked first, then the University of Babylon and the University of Technology at the level of public universities, while Al-Ameed University ranked first at the level of private universities and colleges, Future University ranked second, and then the Islamic University ranked third.
59 Iraqi universities out of 122 universities succeeded in passing the transparency test, as the university achieved a growth rate in citations during 6 months of 18.97%, thanks to 310 researchers from the University of Baghdad whose accounts were approved in the transparency classification.
The professors of the College of Administration and Economics had an important role in raising the percentage of scientific citations at the University of Baghdad, where Dr. Hakim Hamoud Falih, teaching in the Department of Banking and Financial Sciences, obtained 1,400 citations, including (9) citations for the year 2024, and in a sequence of first at the college level and (24) at the university level, while Dr. Muhammad Amin received 626 citations
