Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Sabah Munfi Ridha, Dean of the College, and as part of the Sustainable University Week activities, the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Baghdad organized a large festival attended by the Assistant Deans, Heads of Scientific Departments, and a wide gathering of faculty members, staff, and students.

The festival commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Lec. Khalid Waleed, followed by the Iraqi national anthem and the recitation of Al-Fatiha in honor of the martyrs of Iraq.

Prof. Dr. Sabah Munfi Ridha delivered a speech in which he praised the outstanding efforts of the organizing committee, emphasizing that environmental protection is not a choice but an ethical and professional responsibility shared by all.

He further noted that the environmental challenges facing the world require collective awareness and responsible behavior that begins with the individual and extends to institutions and society. He also highlighted the College’s commitment to integrating sustainability concepts into academic curricula.

The festival featured a documentary film titled *“The Sustainable University,”* produced by the Media and Government Communication Division, showcasing key activities that promote environmental sustainability.

In addition, a group of students, supervised by Mr. Saad Kamel, Head of the Technical Unit, presented a purposeful theatrical performance highlighting the importance of environmental preservation in daily life, which was well received by the audience.

The festival also included presentations of students’ ideas on how to incorporate environmental initiatives within the College, followed by a cultural competition featuring general questions on environment and sustainability.

At the conclusion of the festival, the Dean honored the winning team of the competition, the student with the best sustainable idea, and the participants in the theatrical performance, awarding them commemorative shields. In turn, Dr. Maha Kamel presented a shield of appreciation to the Dean in recognition of his continuous support for the festival.

On the sidelines of the event, the Dean inaugurated the environmental exhibition organized by the academic departments, which featured more than 60 artworks reflecting students’ visions and creativity in the field of environmental sustainability.
