The research aims to know the reality of domestic savings as a source of sustainable financing and to shed light on the structure of these savings , the factors affecting them , their weak effectiveness in financing, and their importance to enhance the participation of all individuals, companies and the government for the purpose of mobilizing the most important local financial resources and following a sustainable financial policy, as it plays a major role in achieving …sustainable development goals, which leads to this societal cooperation enhancing accountability and transparency, and from here highlights the economic , political and social importance of careful analysis of savings to enhance financial independence and the extent to which the national economy is affected by the burdens of interest and installments of public debt, and from this standpoint came this research “ The Impact of Domestic Savings in Financing Sustainable Development in Iraq” for the period (2003-2022) and monitoring and analyzing the development of these savings at the domestic and national levels, and the impact of these savings on some obstacles and challenges and ways to solve some of these factors, as the reality of savings and sources of financing for sustainable development was identified and the most important indicators of the efficiency of domestic savings in financing were known . The size of the local and financing gaps, and the impact of those gaps on some sustainable development goals.
The research concluded by relying on measuring and analyzing some indicators of the efficiency of local savings and some sustainable development goals (average per capita GDP, unemployment rate , social development services, health and education) using the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model for co-integration, and different results . Some sustainable development goals on the impact of domestic savings in the short term and in the long term.
The results showed that local savings rates for the research period are affected by the trade balance, the general budget surplus or deficit, and public debt service. The research concludes with its recommendations by strengthening the work of domestic savings because of their short-and long-term impact on achieving sustainable development goals and not falling behind.
