Competitiveness is an important challenge and requirement for countries, which must be achieved and confronted as a decisive factor in enhancing global integration in light of global changes that have contributed to the rise of international and regional economic blocs. Therefore, this study aims to identify the challenges facing Iraq in the process of integration into the global economy in light of contemporary economic transformations related to trade liberalization and financial openness according to international economic indicators. It has been shown that the weakness of Iraqi competitiveness indicators, the lack of clarity of legislation, and the slowness of economic reforms constituted major obstacles to strengthening its international position and delaying its integration. The study focuses on diagnosing the reality of Iraq and its position within global indicators. It also highlights the role of regional economic blocs such as the European Union, NAFTA, and ASEAN in enhancing economic integration and achieving high growth and investment rates, and benefiting from the level of economic competitiveness.
