The Rehabilitation and Employment Unit, in cooperation with the Department of Economics and the Ministry of Environment, organized an awareness workshop entitled “Enhancing Environmental and Health Awareness among University Youth and Its Role in Achieving Sustainable Development.” The workshop was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Hamid Kazzar and Dr. Samir Al-Hilu Haqi from the Ministry of Environment.
The workshop aimed to promote environmental and health awareness among university students by addressing environmental pollution, its impact on public health, healthy behaviors, and the concepts of environmental and health awareness. It also highlighted sustainable development and its key pillars—economic growth, environmental protection, and social justice—through practical examples such as renewable energy and recycling.
The workshop emphasized the role of universities in integrating environmental and health topics into curricula, encouraging green student activities, and organizing awareness campaigns. It concluded with recommendations to continue awareness efforts, link academic courses to the Sustainable Development Goals, engage students in environmental decision-making, and enhance cooperation with relevant institutions.
